Just got back last week from the class and i learned alot. The instructors were great and my classmates were very experienced floor covering mechanics. Would recommend this class to anyone in the floor industry.

Knots

Check out the website called Animated knots by Grog. If you have internet in the class you can pick from a large assortment of knots and watch them being tied in animation. You can also save them if you know your way around a computer.

knot tying class

Looking for any ideas on teaching "knot tying". Currently we spend 1 1/2 - 2 hours explaing a few basic knots and have the students practice tying them. If anyone has put together a good class on this topic , and would be willing to share your ideas, pleases let us know. Thanks!

Drywall Training

Here in upstate NY we do Habitat for Humanity houses for our apprentices. After a few weeks getting the feel for the tools we go out and they will do a two story, three bedroom house usually in four days. It's a win/win situation because they can see what they do and the houses are turned over rather quickly. They go from start to finish and then we bring in the painting class to finish it up. Great way to train and really good community relations. The students really like getting their picture taken in local paper and getting letters of appreciation.
I'd also like to say hi to the gang from rigging class.

How many programs have Health and Safety Programs are up and running Would like to Know of Sucesses and Snags.
How many hours are you requiring for Qualification Working Hours and Safety training Hours?
Anybody using skill hours for this promotion Program? if So What kind?
How about shelf life for OSHA 10 any councils putting time frame on Renewels??

Well if this is going to be a decussion board lets start with thoughts about selection procedures for apprenticeship programs. Does any one in a SAC State have the Usage of the Recomended " National Standards" Intent to Hire Procedures. If so did you have to modify to meet your State Council Desires. If you were sucessful Let me Know what you did?
Has your program been dropped by a state Agency ? and been left to BAT if so when ?
Does anyone function in a fee based enviroment with their State APPRENTICESHIP COUNCIL? If so is it based on per Apprentice Basis ? is it working out would be my next Question?
